Springwatch naturalist and photographer Chris Packham to explore Australia’s remote Kimberley on Steppes Travel’s exclusive private charter onboard True North

April 19th, 2017

The True NorthHot on the heels of Springwatch, (BBC2 Friday 21st April; 8:30-9:30pm), Steppes Travel is excited to announce another collaboration with Chris Packham, heading for an off-the-beaten track adventure in Australia’s remote Kimberley, one of the last great wilderness areas on the planet.

On the back of a successful Papua New Guinea expedition with Steppes Travel in 2016, Chris will lead a small group of clients on an exclusive private charter onboard True North, giving tips on how best to photograph the abundant birdlife and spectacular waterfalls for which Kimberley is renowned.

Travelling 1,000 nautical miles from Wyndham to Broome, the itinerary will take in Aboriginal culture, crocodiles, birds and timeless landscapes. Highlights include ‘The Bradshaws’, said to be the oldest rock art known to man, a helicopter ride over the thundering waters of Eagle Falls, wilderness walks with the inspirational Chris as your private guide, and the opportunity to join George Swann, Kimberley birding expert, as he points out more than 300 hundred species of bird, including the blue-winged kookaburra and rainbow bee-eater.
