Cancellation of Columbus Iceland & Northern Isles cruise
Columbus experienced a technical problem on a fjordland itinerary following minor contact with a foreign object during her departure from Amsterdam. After the incident, surveyors and divers attended the ship and cleared Columbus to sail. Unfortunately, during her ongoing North Sea passage, Columbus developed a minor technical issue.
As a result, CMV took the decision to return the vessel to the Netherlands for further investigation.
The ship is undertaking a dry dock period for remedial works before resuming service. CMV had hoped that these repairs would be completed in time for Columbus’ next cruise, but unfortunately due to the highly specialised resources required to assess and repair the damage it has not been possible to complete the required work in time.
As a result of this cancellation, CMV has reviewed all possible transfer options in order to alleviate the understandable frustration and disappointment this incident has caused. CMV has provided all passengers who were booked on the Iceland & Northern Isles cruise departing 15 June with two alternative options.
Option one, passengers can transfer their cruise reservation to any published CMV sailing of up to 15 nights departing from 1 October 2019 onwards and receive a 50% discount on the best available fare. CMV can confirm that Summer 2020 availability is still good with a wide selection of Iceland cruises; sailing from London Tilbury 27 June and 9 August, from Liverpool on 23 July and Hull on 17 August 2020.
And option two, passengers can cancel their cruise reservation, receive a full refund and receive a 30% discount on a future CMV sailing of up to 15 nights duration. All options are subject to availability, booking conditions and are valid until Friday 12 July 2019.
