Scenic unveils new discovery sailings and experiences in North and Central America
With the full release of its 2022/2023 North and Central America Voyages and Land Journeys programme, Scenic has unveiled new discovery experiences for guests travelling on board the ultra-luxury Discovery Yacht, “Scenic Eclipse”.
Across four new sailings and five new land journeys, guests can explore the Cerro Negro volcano (Central America) on a guided walk or delight in the warm, azure waters the region has to offer on kayaking, snorkelling or stand-up paddle boarding excursions.
Scenic Eclipse offers an unrivalled exploration of the region. The on board helicopters^ offer incredible views of the stunning tropical mountain vistas whilst the on board submarine, Scenic Neptune^, provides a front-row seat to incredible wildlife encounters in the azure waters of ‘the world’s aquarium’ – the Sea of Cortez. Baja and Costa Rica Discovery – New 16-day sailing from San Diego to San Jose departing 27 September 2022.
Explore the world’s second-longest peninsula, Baja, which boasts a coastline that is majestic and wildly untamed. Uncover the rich cultural heritage of Oaxaca, spot an abundance of wildlife at Huatulco National Park and head to San Rafaelito Island for the opportunity to snorkel with a small colony of Californian sea lions. Guests can join a guided hike to the still-active Cerro Negro volcano, zip line through the Papagayo Canopy or ride horseback across some of Guanacaste’s most beautiful surroundings.
Central American Discovery – New 16-day sailing from Panama City to Los Angeles departing 3 April 2023.
Sail from Panama along the colourful coastline of Central America into the storied waters of the Sea of Cortez. Explore the hiking trails of Cébaco Island and visit Isla Cerralvo, known as Jacques Cousteau Island, surrounded by an abundance of marine life. Witness a myriad of sea life, sea turtles and humpback whales while exploring the azure waters by kayak and Zodiac.
Baja California & Sea of Cortez – New 12-day sailing from Los Angeles to San Diego departing 23 April 2023.
A great itinerary for those looking for an introduction to expedition cruising. Explore the Sea of Cortez by Zodiac, kayak, stand-up paddleboard or on guided walks through biological reserves. With an abundance of marine life, it’s the perfect destination to embark on a snorkelling excursion while enjoying the calm, placid ocean in search of whales passing by. Sail on a catamaran through the beautiful Chileno Bay or opt for a horse ride along the beach.
Costa Rica Nature and Wildlife – New seven-day land journey from Monteverde to San José departing 5 and 11 October 2022, combinable with the Baja and Costa Rica Discovery and the Andean Coastal Exploration.
Visit the enchanting cloud forests and lush green rainforests of Costa Rica on this seven-day escorted land journey. Learn about the conservation of native flora and fauna at the NATUWA – Macaw and Rescue Centre before taking the Sky Tram to the Continental Divide. Enjoy a guided journey through the Arenal Vida Campesina farm and get an up-close look at life in the Costa Rican countryside. Guests can paddle along the Peñas Blancas River taking in the sights, sounds and tranquillity before making their way to the capital, San José.
