Celebrity Chef Michael Bonacini Joins Emerald Cruises for Culinary Yacht Sailing in Southern Italy

Emerald Azzurra (November 2021)Emerald Cruises is pleased to announce they will once again partner with celebrated Canadian chef Michael Bonacini—this time for a luxury, gastronomy-themed sailing in Southern Italy aboard the 100-passenger superyacht, Emerald Azzurra.

Departing from Rome on April 4, 2023, this special departure will call on some of Southern Italy’s most beloved food destinations—Sorrento, Amalafi, Sicily, and Monopoli—before crossing the Adriatic and ending in Dubrovnik.

During the sailing, guests will be treated to exclusive culinary experiences with Chef Bonacini, including a private cocktail reception hosted by the celebrity chef; a special southern Italian inspired dinner created by Chef Bonacini; a visit to a market in Minori with a stop at Sal de Riso’s award-winning pastry shop to taste the famous Amalfi lemon dessert, Delizia al Limone; a live pasta making session on board; and a visit to a local Masseria to tour the olive groves and sample their extra virgin olive oil.

“Travel is such an important component to understanding the culture and history behind the foods we love,” said Chef Bonacini. “I am very much looking forward to sharing the rich traditions of southern Italian cuisine with our guests on this special sailing.”

Guests who book their cabin by June 30, 2022, will receive free, round-trip air to Europe—but Emerald Cruises urges guests who are interested to move quickly. With just 50 cabins on the intimate Emerald Azzura, the line anticipates this special itinerary will sell out long before June.

In addition to free flights, balcony suites start at just $8,350 CAD per person—includes gratuities, all meals including snacks by the pool, select onboard drinks, port charges, WIFI, and airport transfers. A brochure detailing the sailing is available for viewing online.

A first for yacht cruising, Emerald Azzurra features an innovative infrared sauna for longer, relaxing guest experiences. Of the 50 luxuriously appointed suites, more than 88 per cent of them boast balconies, with more space per guest than similar vessels of her size. The yacht also features a large infinity pool, spa, gym and marina platform, with SEABOBs, paddleboards and snorkelling equipment available for guests to enjoy. A fleet of the very latest in electronic bikes from Gocycle are also available on board, ideal for local village trips and active explorations.

Emerald Cruises offers a diverse line-up of river and yacht cruises on three continents. Emerald Azzurra, the line’s first ocean-going vessel which launched in March 2022, is a 100-guest, luxury superyacht that will sail the warm waters of the Mediterranean, Adriatic, and Red Seas.

Emerald Sakara will be the brand’s second superyacht and will add the Seychelles to the destination line-up when she launches in 2023. On the rivers, Emerald Cruises sails eight branded Star-Ships in Europe and one on the Mekong. The brand offers contemporary deluxe ships, outstanding service and an incredibly inclusive pricing plan that has won them the honour of being named Best River Cruise Line for Value by the Cruise Critic Editors’ Picks Awards for five years running. Emerald Cruises is part of Scenic Group, which includes Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours, Mayflower Cruises & Tours and Evergreen Tours in Australia.
