Emerald Cruises Announces Godmother for New Superyacht, Emerald Azzurra Line’s first superyacht to be christened in Venice in May

Emerald Azzurra (November 2021)Sarah Wikevand, managing director of ROL Cruise in the UK, has been named Godmother of Emerald Cruises’ first ocean-going superyacht, Emerald Azzurra. Wikevand will christen the 100-guest superyacht in Venice on May 28, 2022.

Rob Voss, Chief Operating Officer of the Scenic Group, which includes Scenic and Emerald Cruises, commented: “We’re incredibly proud to be showcasing our commitment to supporting travel agents by having Sarah as our first Emerald Cruises superyacht’s Godmother. She is a wonderful advocate for the cruising market and her dedication reflects our own commitment to growing this remarkable industry.”

As managing director of ROL Cruise, Sarah Wikevand is a highly regarded and well-respected cruise industry advocate. As one of Emerald Cruises’ top performing agents for superyacht cruises, ROL Cruise has been instrumental in the success of launching Emerald Cruises’ first ocean superyacht, Emerald Azzurra.

“I have been working with the incredible Emerald Cruises team for over six years now and I am humbled to have been selected as Godmother for the line’s first ocean-going superyacht Emerald Azzurra. It is an honor to work closely with the team on such a monumental milestone for Emerald Cruises,” Wikevand commented.

The superyacht carries just 100 guests in 50 deluxe staterooms and suites – of which 88% feature a balcony. Emerald Azzurra offers a luxurious small ship cruising experience, visiting ports and harbors only accessible to small yachts. The custom-built vessel features a variety of stunningly appointed public areas including an infinity-style pool, wellness area with an infrared sauna, and a marina platform for easy access to watersports and activities such as electric bikes and stand-up paddleboards.

Emerald Azzurra entered service on March 12, and is currently sailing an eight-day Croatia in Depth itinerary. The superyacht will continue sailing the Adriatic and Mediterranean coastlines before repositioning to Doha, Qatar in December 2022 to cruise the Arabian Peninsula between Doha and Dubai.

Emerald Azzurra will be joined by sister yacht Emerald Sakara in 2023, with itineraries to the Red Sea and Mediterranean on sale now.
