Antarctic Ambassador, Aurora Expeditions, Recognized on Antarctica Day
Expedition travel company, Aurora Expeditions, celebrates Antarctica Day on Dec. 1, sharing its passion for leading expeditions to the region for over 30 years while instilling a protective love of the destination in its passengers and creating life-long ambassadors in conservation.

Aurora Expeditions pioneers respectful expedition travel and its impact on travelers and the destination, according to its Chief Marketing Officer, Hayley Peacock-Gower.

Antarctica Day celebrates the signing of the Antarctic Treaty on Dec. 1, 1959, which set aside nearly 10 percent of the Earth “forever to be used exclusively for peaceful purposes… in the interests of all mankind.”
The USA was one of 12 original signatories to the Treaty which has grown to 55 parties as of 2022. Aurora Expeditions was a founding member of the International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators (IAATO), which created the environmental protocols for all commercial visitors to Antarctica to help protect and conserve the icy continent for future generations to visit.
