Antarctic Ambassador, Aurora Expeditions, Recognized on Antarctica Day

Antarctica Day celebrates the signing of the Antarctic Treaty on Dec. 1, 1959, which set aside nearly 10 percent of the Earth “forever to be used exclusively for peaceful purposes… in the interests of all mankind.”

The USA was one of 12 original signatories to the Treaty which has grown to 55 parties as of 2022. Aurora Expeditions was a founding member of the International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators (IAATO), which created the environmental protocols for all commercial visitors to Antarctica to help protect and conserve the icy continent for future generations to visit.
